Definition of Exposition Text
Exposition is a text that elaborates the writer‘s idea about the phenomenon surrounding. Its social function is to persuade the reader that the idea is important matter, and to analyze the topic that the thesis/opinion is correct by developing an argument to support it.
Generic Structure of Exposition Text
# Thesis: Introducing the topic and indicating the writer’s point of view.
# Argument : Explaining the argument to support the writer’s position. The number of arguments may vary, but each argument must be supported by evidence and explanation.
# Reiteration: Restating the writer’s point of view / to strengthen the thesis. We can use the following phrase to make conclusion in reiteration.
Purpose of Exposition Text
– To convince the reader that the topics presented was an important topic to be discussed or gained attention by way of providing arguments or opinions that support the main idea or topic.
The Characteristics / Language Feature of Exposition Text
– Using relational process
– Using internal conjunction
– Using causal conjunction
– Using Simple Present Tense
– Using compound and complex sentence.
– Use word that link argument, such as firstly, secondly, and reasoning through causal conjunction, such as in addition, furthermore, however, therefore.
Example of Exposition Text
Hand sanitizer becomes important thing during the pandemic of COVID-19. The chemical substance in the sanitizer can help you cleaning your hand easily without using water and soap.
One of the reasons is that you will always use your hand to touch something and make contact with other people.
During the interactions, virus can be transmitted, and applying the sanitizer on the palm of hand is safe way to kill the virus. Then, availability of water and soap sometimes cannot be obtained easily.
It will also take time when you have to go to toilet to wash your hands. With hand sanitizer, you can easily clean your hands and avoid the threats of virus.
In conclusion, it is highly recommended to always bring the sanitizer whenever you go.

The Importance of sleep
Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. Why Is Sleep Important?
Sleep helps your brain work properly. While you're sleeping, your brain is preparing for the next day. It's forming new pathways to help you learn and remember information.
Studies show that a good night's sleep improves learning. Whether you're learning math, how to play the piano, how to perfect your golf swing, or how to drive a car, sleep helps enhance your learning and problem-solving skills. Sleep also helps you pay attention, make decisions, and be creative.
Physical Health often relate to quality sleep. It plays an important role in your physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.
Besides that, sleep also helps maintain a healthy balance of the hormones that make you feel hungry (ghrelin) or full (leptin). When you don't get enough sleep, your level of ghrelin goes up and your level of leptin goes down. This makes you feel hungrier than when you're well-rested.

1. Analytical Exposition Text
Definition :
A text that contains the writer's opinion about the things that happen around him, be it an object, place, or event, without inviting the reader to do something.
Purpose :
To persuade readers that an issue or topic that is presented is an important issue to discuss.
Structure :
- Thesis
A section that introduce the reader to the main topic of a text. shows the writer's point of view.
- Arguments
The part where the writer provides arguments or opinions that support the main idea.
- Reiteration / Conclusion
A section containing reaffirmation of the writer's position and opinion on the main topic.
Language Features :
- Using simple present tense.
- Using connective words.
- Using adverb of sequence
2. Hortatory Exposition Text
Definition :
A text that tells the reader to agree or disagree about an issue which ends with a recommendation that influences the reader.
Purpose :
To persuade the readers to do or not do something.
Structure :
Thesis
A section that introduces the reader to the main topic of a text and shows the writer's point of view.
Arguments
The part where the writer provides arguments or opinions that support the main idea.
Recommendation
A section that contains recommendations or suggestions from the writer to the reader to do or not do something.

As we all know, cars create pollution, and cause a lot of road deaths and other accidents.
Firstly, cars, as we all know contribute the most of pollution in the world. Cars emit a deadly gas causes illnesses such as bronchitis, lung cancer, and trigger of asthma. Some of these illness are so bad that people can die from them.
Secondly, the city is very busy. Pedestrians wander every where and cars commonly hit pedestrians in the city, which causes them to die. Cars today are our roads biggest killers.
Thirdly, cars are very noisy. If you live in the city, you may find it hard to sleep at night, or concentrate in your homework, and especially talk to someone.
In conclusion, cars should be banned from the city for the reasons listed.
